Novi Sad Al Wahda is search of a third FIBA 3×3 World Tour title

After being hosted for two consecutive years in Abu Dhabi, FIBA 3×3 World Tour Final, the pinnacle event of the 3×3 basketball world, will move to China, in Beijing. The UAE and Abu Dhabi representatives, team Novi Sad Al Wahda, will try to win a third title, after the ones in 2014 and 2015

The 12 teams that will play the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Bloomage Beijing Final (28-29 october) have been confirmed after the last Masters of the season in Mexico City, Mexico on September 30 – October 1.

4 teams have won at least one 3×3 World Tour Masters this season, securing a direct spot in the World Tour Final, they were Liman (Debrecen and Mexico City), Ljubljana, who won the first Masters of the season in Saskatoon back in July, Novi Sad Al Wahda (Lausanne, Prague and Utsunomiya) and Piran (Chengdu).

The 12 finalists at the World Tour are the top 12 teams in the World Tour standings after the last Masters of the season.

5. Piran (SLO)
6. Riga (LAT)
7. Saskatoon (CAN)

Additionally, the top 6 teams qualified for the World Tour Final will receive additional prize money for their pre-finals standing. The allocated prize money is as follows: (1) 30,000$  (2) 24,000$ (3) 20,000$ (4) 16,000$ (5) 12,000$ (6) 10,000$. Prize money reached an all-time high 600,000$ this year in the FIBA 3×3 professional season.

Ljubljana won the FIBA 3×3 World Tour in front of frenetic crowd

Team Ljubljana (SLO) won the 2016 FIBA 3×3 World Tour Final after defeating Hamamatsu (JPN) (21-12) in the title game in Abu Dhabi on 27-28 October. It was for the second year in a row that the UAE capital city hosted the final with the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. The best 3×3 teams in the world, ready to rock in Abu Dhabi

The best 12 teams from FIBA 3×3 World Tour will gather for the second consecutive year in Abu Dhabi for the FIBA 3×3 World Tour final. The event will take place in the iconic International Tennis Centre from Zayed Sports City, on 27-28 October.

Following the Master Americas, the last of the seventh FIBA 3×3 World Tour tournaments from 2016, Chicago was the team gaining a spot in the big final as the winner of the tournament.

Chicago joined Caguas (PUR), Novi Sad Al Wahda (UAE), Ljubljana (SLO) and Saskatoon (CAN) as the five teams which qualified by winning a Masters.

The other 7 finalists earned their ticket because they finished in the Top 12 in the World Tour season standings. They are: Gdansk (POL, 6th), São Paulo DC (BRA, 7th), Piran (SLO, 8th), St Petersburg (RUS, 9th), Hamamatsu (JPN, 10th), Kranj (SLO, 11th) and Belgrade (SRB, 12th).

Ljubljana crowned champion of Abu Dhabi 3×3 Challenger

In a clash of the titans, a true El Clasico between the two best 3×3 basketball teams in the world, Ljubljana upset the heavy favorites Al Wahda in the final of Abu Dhabi 3×3 Challenger, final score 21-17, and won the trophy and the 4000 USD money prize. Road to Abu Dhabi 2016 will start mid July in Mexico City

For the second year in a row Abu Dhabi will be the world capital of 3×3 basketball. The fifth edition of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour will start in Mexico City on 16-17 July and culminate with the World Tour Final in Abu Dhabi on 27-28 October.
