Al Wahda Novi Sad (UAE), continue to dominate the FIBA 3×3 World Tour, qualifying to a record fourth Masters this season. They will play during this week-end in Rio de Janeiro.
After winning in Manila, they are looking to take home the USD 10,000 cheque after misses in Prague (7th) and Beijing (3rd).
Al Wahda will play in Pool A, alongside La Plata (Argentina) and Anchieta (Brasil). Team La Plata are back after finishing 8th last year at the Rio Masters and Anchieta showed some flashes of brilliance at the CBB Brazilian Quest finishing third but are unlikely to be a real test for the team of Dusan Domovic Bulut, the number one 3×3 player in the world.
The Rio De Janeiro Master is the last tournament before the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Final, that will be hosted in Abu Dhabi, on October 15-16, near the Nation Towers.
Both finalists from Rio will qualify for Abu Dhabi. They will join Al Wahda (UAE), Manila North (Philippines), Doha (Qatar), Kranj, Ljubljana, Trbovlje (Slovenia), Vilnius (Lithuania), Kolobrzeg (Poland), Chicago and NY Harlem (USA).
Pool games from Rio De Janeiro will start at 10.10 local time (GMT-3) on Saturday live on FIBA 3×3’s official YouTube channel. The top-two placed teams from each pool advance to a standard knock-out round which starts at the quarter-finals stage, from 10.45 local time on Sunday.
