3×3 basketball, hopes for Olympic Games

FIBA President Horacio Muratore (left) and FIBA Secretary General Patrick Baumann met with International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach.

FIBA is ready to submit the proposal to IOC in due course to have 3×3 at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Abu Dhabi Sports Council and UAE Basketball Association are part of the global effort to achieve this goal, following a very active 2015 season, ended with the best 3×3 event ever, FIBA 3×3 World Tour Final.

FIBA announced the calendar for its 2015 FIBA 3×3 World Tour at a press conference in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday.

Abu Dhabi to host FIBA 3×3 World Tour Final in 2015 and 2016

The 2015 and 2016 editions of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Final will take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Abu Dhabi, FIBA announced on Tuesday.

The event will be organised in cooperation with FIBA by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council together with Extra International Sport and Sport Arena, an international promoter who has been one of the pioneers in the development of 3×3.

Team Novi Sad wins the 3×3 All Stars

Team Novi Sad dominated Doha 20-12 in Friday’s final of the FIBA 3×3 All Stars, which was staged on Katara Beach with the city skyline on the horizon.

Marko Savic topped all scorers in the deciding game, with 8 points, including three shots from behind the arc. His team-mates Dejan Majstorovic and number one 3×3 player in the world Dusan Domovic Bulut contributed 7 and 5 points respectively.

UAE Basketball Association representative, at FIBA 3×3 World Tour Final

Team Novi Sad, from Serbia, won the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Final 2014, the third edition of the pinnacle of FIBA 3×3 competition network, where the best 12 teams in the world met to battle for a 20.000 USD prize. At the tournament held in Sendai, Japan, attended also Mr. Khalid Al Hanaei, the Chairman of the 3×3 Committee from the UAE Basketball Association.
