For the first time in history UAE 3×3 basketball National Teams will take part in the FIBA 3×3 World Championships 2016, with the women team and the girls U18 team. 

The women national team qualified for the FIBA 3×3 World Championships that will take place in Guangzhou, China, between 11 and 15 November 2016.

The girls U18 national team will be part of the FIBA 3×3 U18 World Championships that will be hosted by Kazakhstan, between 1 and 5 June 2016.

The teams are qualifying for the World Championships based on the FIBA 3×3 National Ranking, that cumulates the points gained by the top 100 players in each category.

Following the Abu Dhabi 3×3 Basketball series of events organized in the first part of the year by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the UAE national ranking increased. The local players had the chance to take part in the 3×3 basketball events organized at home and their points contributed to a better position of UAE.

Abu Dhabi 3×3 Basketball Tour featured four events and one final, three of them in Abu Dhabi, one in Al Gharbia – Madinat Zayed and one in Al Ain, the last one being cancelled due to bad weather conditions.

Abu Dhabi was the 3×3 basketball capital in 2015, as the city hosted the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Final, a huge crowd success, with over 6000 people attending during both days of the competition. Abu Dhabi will host also the 2016 edition.
