You probably have seen them on You Tube, you have seen them last evening in the warm-up session, but today you will have the chance to see what they can really do, here in Abu Dhabi, at Nation Towers, starting around 07.00 pm. Entry is free of charge.
They defy gravity, they jump way above the rim and they always invent new dunks.
Two of the best dunkers in the world, Justin Darlington and Rafal Lipinski, together with former dunker Kadour Ziani, now an entertainer, will show their best skills at the fourth stage of Abu Dhabi 3×3 Basketball Tour.
The athletes, part of the Dunk Elite group, are for the first time in Abu Dhabi and they were impressed by the city. “I can feel the vibe of this great city and I just wait to entertain the crowd. It gave me a good feeling as soon as I stepped down from the plane”, told Justin Darlington, the Canadian who never lost a dunk contest for almost two years, between 2011 and 2013.
“I am waiting as many people as possible to see us, we have plenty entertainment to offer and we know that the organizers, Sport Arena team, is doing a great job in promoting 3×3 basketball all over the world so we are happy to join their efforts”, added Darlington.
“It’s a great place to start this season. We have great expectations regarding this year, as our crew from Dunk Elite is preparing to offer some great things to the audience”, said Rafal Lipinski, from Poland, a 3 time FIBA World Dunk Champion.
The dunkers will be presented by Kadour Ziani, considered by many the father of slam-dunk. The French of Algerian origin is now an entertainer, but his athletic nature can still be seen, even he is 42 years old now.
“I want people to be always happy. And dunking is a way to make people happy. And if the people are happy, I am happy. Slam dunk is a way of life and for us it was a way to find a place in this world”, concluded Kadour Ziani.
The dunk contest will feature also two local participants, Amer Al Sati and Seraphim so we are waiting for you to see a great show, tonight, 07.00 pm, Nation Towers. The entry is free of charge.
